The frame-set continues with 2d Bn 4th Marines. Each set will contain a tac map with coordinates identified, a segment of the official AAR and comments, recollections from Marines who were there when available and published material if applicable. I'll try to add one or two frame-sets each week. The TacMap used in each frame is the actual TacMap used by commanders during Starlite. The black grease marks are from acetate overlays produced by the commanding officers just prior to 18 August 1965. I've added a few notations to help the viewer locate the action referenced in the AAR. Any markings other than the black overlay marks are not on the original map.

Reading a coordinate: Coord 720923 - coord line 72 is vertical-the third number is read 0 to 10, 5 being midway. In this case 720 is right on the vertical north-south line. The 92 horizontal line will intersect the 72 vertical line plus 3, a bit over half way to the mid point 5.

I never read maps in the Corps, I just followed Marines who could, or at least I'd hoped they could.
