I Co AAR continues:"....The two(2) platoons of company "I"then advanced west to coord (BS 698927) and began sweeping north in an attempt to locate the supply column when we engaged a VC force at coord (BS 700930) resulting in one (1) KIA and one (1) WIA. The VC lost six (6) KIA. This contact occurred at around 1930. The V.C. broke contact and a helicopter evacuation was conducted for the two casualties. By the time the evacuation was completed it was dark. We were unable to locate supply train and were ordered to return back to Grid coordinates (704927) where company "I" second platoon and a platoon from "H" company 2d Bn 4th Marines were located, then return back to the 7th Marine CP to provide secuirty for the CP. Our return back was hampered by continuous illumination. We were fired upon on two occasions and returned fire. We surprised 6 V.C. in the village and killed them and returned back to grid coordinates (BS704927) around 190345H (ed 3:45am Aug. 19) There we gathered our second platoon and the platoon from Company "H" 2d Bn 4th Marines and proceeded back to the Regiment CP and set up security.
